Trade season in the NBA is heating up, and it's only expected to get hotter as the Feb. 6 deadline gets closer. The Houston Rockets are among teams looking to make changes, and one player they have reportedly made available is starting center Clint Capela.

The Rockets are reportedly aggressively shopping the 25-year-old big man. According to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, the Brooklyn Nets reportedly denied Houston's proposed offer of Capela in exchange for Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince.

It's quite understandable why Brooklyn declined the deal. Capela and Allen bring pretty much the same thing to the table, and Allen is four years younger. Exchanging him for a carbon copy of Allen to go along with letting go of a potential rotation piece next season — when they get Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving back healthy — in Prince doesn't really make sense.

The Rockets are reportedly trying to acquire a big and a wing player before the deadline. Capela may be their best trade asset to do just that.

Capela has established himself as an elite rim-runner in the pick-and-roll alongside Rockets star James Harden. He is also one of the best rebounders in the league, averaging 13.8 rebounds per game this season. Likewise, he is a solid rim protector. However, Capela does have his limitations on the offensive end in terms of being able to stretch the floor.

Capela is making $14.9 million for the Rockets this season. He is still owed $51.3 million over the next three seasons after this one. For what he brings to the table, that's still a pretty bargain deal for any team looking for a serviceable rim-runner, rim protector, and terrific rebounder.
