At 35 years young, New Orleans Pelicans veteran JJ Redick still remains to be one of the most effective outside shooters in the league today. So much so, that the 14-year veteran has been the subject of several inquiries from interested teams — something that the Pelicans front office has categorically rejected. This is via ESPN's Zach Lowe.

Teams who have called about JJ Redick have been shooed away, sources say. Reminder: Everything is fluid.

After signing with the Pelicans in the offseason on a lucrative two-year, $26.5 million deal, Redick has been paying his team dividends with his outstanding play this season. Currently, the 6-foot-3 guard is averaging 15.2 points (on 45.2 percent shooting), 2.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, while also knocking down 3.0 3-pointers per game on a highly-efficient 46.4-percent clip.

No wonder teams are doing their due diligence on Redick. After all, he is the type of player that could bring a contender over the top.

The Pelicans, however, seem determined to keep Redick on board. He has been instrumental for the team this season, and with New Orleans hoping to make a late push for the postseason (they're currently four and a half games outside the playoffs picture in a ruthless Western Conference), it appears that they will be doing everything in their power to keep their current core intact.

As Lowe noted above, though, the Pelicans' resolve might not be set in stone. The organization is smart enough to figure that they're not going to be competing for the title this year, so perhaps they might be willing to part ways with Redick at the right price.
