Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams likely won't get traded at the trade deadline, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.

The Atlanta Hawks have interest in Adams, but with the Thunder playing really well this season and in playoff contention, it appears OKC general manager Sam Presti is leaning towards keeping the core intact.

A source with knowledge of Oklahoma City’s thinking believes Steven Adams is going to stay put with the Thunder ahead of the deadline.

Adams has appeared in 44 games for the Thunder this season. He's averaging 10.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 60.0 percent from the field and 57.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Adams, who is making $25.8 million this season and is owed $27.5 million in 2020-21, is a crucial part of the Thunder as he anchors their defense.

The Thunder are 30-20 on the season and in seventh place in the Western Conference standings. Led by All-Star point guard Chris Paul and rising star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC has put themselves in a great place to make the postseason despite initial expectations that they are entering a rebuild.

To recall, the Thunder blew up their core after trading both Paul George and Russell Westbrook in the summer.
