Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristian Thompson has generated plenty of interest with the Feb. 6 trade deadline approaching. It appears the Washington Wizards could also be added to the list of teams potentially looking to acquire his services.

There were rumors swirling that the Wizards may try to sweep in and take Thompson off the Cavs' hands. According to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post, the reports have started to pick up some steam.

Washington has seemingly been in the market for a new big man since well before the trade deadline came around. Thompson could certainly make for an ideal fit if it comes at the right price.

There is no question that Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is in desperate need of some more help with point guard John Wall still out. Although Cleveland is one of the worst teams in the league, Thompson has been one of the few bright spots for them as he averages a double-double with 11.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game this season.

It remains to be seen just how much the Cavs want in return for Thompson, who is in the final year of his contract that boasts an $18.5 million salary. Initial reports suggest that they would like a first-rounder in exchange but would be willing to settle for some quality second-round picks while shoring up some much-needed cap relief.

The Wizards appear to still be in the midst of ushering a youth movement amidst their recent struggles. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to give up the necessary picks in order to pull a trade off for Tristan Thompson.
