NBA fans know who Charles Barkley is and what he has done for the game, but we've learned something new about him in a recent episode of Inside the NBA ā€” he can't read properly from a teleprompter.

Shaquille O'Neal read a plug for TNT's new TV show ā€œThe Alienist.ā€ Co-hosts Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson Jr. started a round of applause, to which the audience followed.

However, Charles Barkley thought that what O'Neal had done didn't deserve a clap.

ā€œTime out! Y'all giving him credit for knowing how to read?ā€

O'Neal and the others then dared Barkley to read the plug in the teleprompter himself. Barkley ended up stammering, prompting his co-hosts to laugh.

After a series of laughter, Barkley was able to read the plug successfully. But his co-hosts couldn't help but compare the whole ordeal to Shaqtin' a Fool, a popular segment of the show where the hosts feature funny NBA moments.

Here is a video of the hilarious scene:

Nobody is doubting Barkley's basketball prowess, but he may need some honing in his reading abilities after this funny incident.

But at the end of the day, it's just plain old fun for the hosts of Inside the NBA ā€” fun that makes the show even more entertaining.

The Alienist is a period drama mystery series based on a novel by Caleb Carr. The series stars Daniel Bruhl as the main character.

As for Barkley, it might be a good idea for him to dress up as Ron Burgundy next Halloween.
