Emotions ran high during the Portland Trail Blazers versus the Utah Jazz match-up at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Friday. The two Western Conference rivals figured in a chippy encounter throughout the first 24 minutes of the game. The testy encounter reached its boiling point at the end of the second period, as Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell and Blazers guard Garry Trent Jr. got into it before the halftime break.

The two scrappy players have been trading verbal jabs at each other since the opening horn. The Blazers backup got overly physical with the Jazz All-Star with 8.1 seconds left in the period, sparking yet another exchange of unpleasantries between the two. The pair received double technicals heading into the third quarter.

Earlier in the game, Carmelo Anthony and Royce O'Neale also figured in a brief commotion.

The Jazz are currently trying to snap out of an ugly five-game skid. The Blazers, meanwhile, are seeking back-to-back wins.
