Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden recently quoted none other than newly-appointed Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers in a recent campaign speech by the Senator. As it turns out, Biden found Rivers' message to be so powerful, that he decided to use it himself.

Here's the snippet from Biden's speech from Wednesday, courtesy of JRN Professor Jay Scott Smith:

For even more emphasis on the message, here's the exact quote from Rivers:

“We're the ones getting killed. We're the ones getting shot. We've been hung. It's amazing why we keep loving this country, and this country does not love us back.”

Joe Biden then went on to express how he is able to somewhat empathize with Rivers here. Then again, the Senator never claims to be able to understand how it is to be a Black person in America. What he is adamant with is how the Black community continues to have a “deep love” for the nation, despite the many atrocities against them.

Rivers was one of the most outspoken personalities in the league throughout the bubble. He spoke openly about social injustice, and how he believes the NBA should use its platform to continue to fight against the same.

Rivers may not have succeeded with the Los Angeles Clippers, as they fell to the Denver Nuggets in the second round, but there's no denying that the veteran head coach was able to win the hearts of more than a few Americans with his powerful message for the Black community. Clearly, Senator Biden is one of them.
