NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal said a few weeks ago that the Brooklyn Nets are going to win their first-round playoff series down in Orlando, Florida.

However, O'Neal forgot he made this grand NBA statement and was reminded by Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson on Thursday.

The Nets are in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They are trying to hold off the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards for that seventh slot. Brooklyn would love to stay at the No. 7 spot since the eighth seed will face the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. If the Nets remain as the seventh seed, they will likely face the Toronto Raptors in the first round.

Brooklyn, though, faces an uphill climb to even make the playoffs. The Nets are playing without Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, Spencer Dinwiddie, Wilson Chandler and Taurean Prince at Disney World. With that said, it looks like even if the team makes the NBA Playoffs, O'Neal is going to lose some money out of his pocket.

The Nets should be NBA title contenders in 2020-21 once Durant and Irving take the floor together. There have even been rumors that Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks has aspirations of acquiring a third star this offseason, so that's something Nets fans should certainly pay attention to.

Nonetheless, the NBA legend appears to feel a bit silly now that he has hindsight, and unforeseen circumstances, at his side. It wasn't a bad prediction at the time.
