Tempers flared during Thursday's preseason game between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers, as rookie Terance Mann slapped the ball away from reigning Rookie of the Year winner Luka Doncic, forcing the referees to separate the two players.

Dallas had a sizable 11-point lead when Doncic was called for a traveling violation after a high rub screen, at which point Mann smacked the ball away, forcing some words out of the Mavs star:

The Clippers are approaching this season with a dog-like mentality, and star additions Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have already taken a liking to Mann, a second-round pick known for his grit.

Mann got the start at shooting guard and recorded eight points and two steals, but the Mavs walked away with a 102-87 win while Doncic doubled-doubled with 15 points and 13 rebounds in 25 minutes. The ROY also committed a game-high nine turnovers, a sign that NBA defenses have already adjusted to his play and have worked on ways to stop him from getting to his spots.

Luka Doncic was a plus-10 in the game, though, and shot a comfortable 5-of-11, including 4-of-9 from deep. Meanwhile, new co-star Kristaps Porzingis led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds of his own, shaking off the rust he exhibited early in the preseason.
