On Wednesday, North Carolina State's basketball program made its biggest recruiting splash since Dennis Smith Jr. committed to the school back in 2016. The Wolfpack received a commitment from the top-ranked shooting guard in the Class of 2023, Robert Dillingham, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello.

Dillingham is a North Carolina native, having grown up in Lincolnton, N.C. He is currently in his junior year of high school, having just transferred to rapper Kanye West's Donda Academy in California.

Despite interest from various top programs including the likes of Memphis, Kansas, LSU, and Kentucky, among others, the Wolfpack were able to convince the sharpshooting guard to take his talents to Raleigh. He marks the program's first commit of the Class of 2023.

Dillingham ranks as the No. 8 overall recruit in the Class of 2023, per ESPN, and is ranked by the network as their No. 1 shooting guard in the nation. The 6-foot-1 guard made an unofficial visit to NC State earlier this year and had his official visit to the campus in October. Many believed Dillingham was going to land at one of the blue blood programs that were at the forefront of his recruitment, but he spurned them all in order to stay home with the Wolfpack.

The high schooler represented Team USA at the 2021 FIBA U16 Americas Championship tournament, during which he averaged 15.7 points and 6.2 assists across six games.

The Wolfpack are bringing a special talent on board with the addition of Dillingham, and NC State fans should be eager to see the budding star take the court at PNC Arena.
