The Seton Hall Pirates were spanked by 27 points by TCU in the first round of March Madness on Friday and could now lose their coach in the process.

Per Jon Rothstein, the Maryland Terrapins are heavily focused on hiring Kevin Willard to take over the program:

The Terrapins fired Mark Sturgeon in December, with Danny Manning replacing him on a part-time basis. While Seton Hall failed to get out of the Round of 64 at March Madness, Willard has done a nice job with them in 12 seasons, leading the Pirates to five NCAA Tournament appearances in the last seven years.

Willard also addressed the rumblings that he could be leaving for Maryland and pinpointed a possible replacement. Via NJ.com:

“When I get home I’ll talk to my agent and discuss things with my agent,” he said, adding, “I’ll be honest with you. If I’m not here next year, I’d love, if Shaheen Holloway is here, that would be the happiest thing to happen to me.”

Holloway, who was a star at Seton Hall, led his #15 Saint Peters program to a historic upset of Kentucky on Thursday in March Madness.

During Willard's time with the Pirates, he's posted seven seasons of 20+ victories. Maryland will be getting a good one if he decides to make the move
