The Brooklyn Nets are one of the teams that had the most cap space coming into this off-season. Even after the trade for guard D'Angelo Russell which included the massive Timofey Mozgov contract, they still have enough space to sign a max player.

The Nets decided to go after Washington Wizards forward Otto Porter who is a restricted free agent. The Wizards are still officially undecided, but most reports state that they will match the offer for the young forward. Brooklyn, however, has a back-up plan.

According to Darren Wolfson of ESPN, the Nets are interested in free agent C.J. Miles. Miles is a great three-point shooter and a savvy veteran. He had a solid 2017-18 season with the Pacers, averaging 10.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He also shot 43.4 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from three, making a couple of 3-pointers per game.

If the Porter offer sheet gets matched by the Wizards, around $25 million in cap will open for the Nets, which should be way more than enough to sign Miles.
