The Brooklyn Nets will be without Allen Crabbe for their Monday night match-up against the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

Crabbe will be missing his fifth straight game due to a right knee soreness. He last played for the Nets against the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 13.

The Nets are currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Their 38-36 record puts them mere percentage points behind the Detroit Pistons for sixth place. However, it also places them just 1.5 games ahead of the Miami Heat for eighth place and 2.5 games ahead of the Orlando Magic for ninth.

Therefore, they are at that point in the season where every game is placed under a microscope. A match with the Portland Trail Blazers is one they'll need all the help they can get.

The Blazers are 45-27 on the year and currently in fourth place in the Western Conference. They are still fighting for positioning in the playoffs as well, so Brooklyn can't expect them to be going easy.

The Nets haven't made the playoffs since 2014-15. In the three years since then, they haven't even topped 30 wins. This year has been a different story however, as D'Angelo Russell has emerged as a legitimate star.

He hasn't done it all himself though. Allen Crabbe has played a major role, as he is instrumental when it comes to spacing the floor. His 37.8 percent shooting from three is second best on the team, behind only Joe Harris (47.1 percent).

This is Crabbe's second season with the team. Oddly enough, his first four seasons were spent with the Blazers.

Every game is crucial from this point on for the Brooklyn. Missing an elite shooter like Crabbe for a game against the heavy-hitting Trail Blazers won't make things easy on them. Now, we'll have to wait and see if they can overcome the obstacle on Monday.
