The NBA world went into a frenzy on Thursday afternoon as Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant requested a trade. Definitely a surprising move after Kyrie Irving just opted in, but it's clear KD wants out.
Following the stunning news, the Nets' title odds have drastically changed from +700 to +1600, per FanDuel.
Brooklyn did have the second-best odds to win the 2023 NBA Championship before KD dropped this bombshell on the organization. The Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns are top dogs at +600, with the latter also seeing their odds shift because of reports that Durant could look to team up with Devin Booker and Chris Paul in the desert.
This is frankly brutal news for the Nets, who will probably now head into a whole rebuild. It's also unlikely Kyrie Irving even wants to stay in Brooklyn. It wouldn't be surprising to see him traded as well.
There will be no shortage of suitors for KD, with essentially every team in the Association willing to give up assets in order to acquire the future Hall of Famer. In fact, as Woj reported, more than 15 clubs have called the Nets to inquire about a Durant trade.

It's a sad end to what the Nets were hoping would be the Big 3 of KD, Kyrie, and James Harden that could bring them a title. Unfortunately, it ain't going to happen.
