The Brooklyn Nets have exercised the 2020-21 contract option for 21-year-old big man Jarrett Allen, according to an official report from the team.

Allen has proven himself to be a solid player for the Nets. Now in his third season with the team, the former McDonald's All-American made 80 appearances last season (all starts), racking up averages of 10.9 points on 59.0 percent shooting from the field, 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 26.2 minutes per outing.

The Nets made major waves this offseason, signing Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and DeAndre Jordan. Allen, who is listed as a center, recently noted that he is ready to help in any way he can — even if it means playing power forward.

“We’re all basketball players at the end of the day,” Allen told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “We all want to be the first on the court,” Allen said. “But at the end of the day, whatever I can do to help the team win, that’s what I’m going to do.”

“I don’t know what it’s going to come down to, or the coach’s system, but for me, I’m preparing to play the 4 or the 5. It’s interchangeable for us. But I’m ready to play whatever they throw at me.”

The Nets will be back in preseason action on Friday night when they'll serve as hosts to the Toronto Raptors. Tip-off inside the Barclays Center is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
