The Brooklyn Nets are at an impasse with Kyrie Irving as he seeks a long-term extension. However, the organization isn't willing to reward him with one because of his lack of availability across the last few seasons, which is understandable. With that in mind, Kyrie could be looking for a change of scenery this summer, with the Los Angeles Lakers emerging as a possible suitor.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski, LA is the only team right now eyeing Irving. Problem is, the Nets aren't the least bit interested in any trade package they're offering:

Kyrie has until June 29 to either opt into his $36-plus million player option or become a free agent. While there are rumors he's interested in a reunion with LeBron James, the Nets guard would have to take a $30 million pay cut to sign outright with the Lakers due to their financial situation.

Brooklyn will undoubtedly be looking to get a haul of players if Irving departs. But there is also a worry that Kevin Durant may want out if his running mate is no longer balling out alongside him on the Nets.

It's not exactly surprising that no other teams are currently in talks with Brooklyn about Kyrie. Yes, he's a phenomenal player and a legitimate game-changer, but basketball doesn't seem like his first priority these days, especially after the vaccination saga.

Nevertheless, the Lakers are desperate to get back into contention and maybe Kyrie Irving could be the missing piece to the puzzle. But, they'll have to make a much better offer to the Nets.
