The Brooklyn Nets are riding the hype of The Lion King. Following the release of the trailer for the real life action rendition of the aforementioned Disney classic, the Nets are featuring a “Simba Cam” where people in attendance at the Barclays Center can lift their babies similar to Simba while the “Circle of Life” song is playing in the background, per Anthony Puccio of SB Nation.

In the famous The Lion King scene, Mufasa lifted and presented his newborn baby Simba to a gathering of animals. Parents watching live can now have their Mufasa moment by lifting their very own Simbas to the Barclays crowd.

People watching live at the arenas are always treated to some kind of fan interaction. This is certainly a unique pull from Brooklyn to ride the waves of the hyped up 2019 film. Moreover, the Nets are putting a twist on the more common “Kiss Cam,” where couples featured on the big screen are prompted to kiss. This one, however, is a breathe of fresh air because kids are involved. Parents around the Brooklyn and New York area now have an incentive to bring their babies to the games.

The Nets organization seems to be concerned with its attendance sheets. According the ESPN NBA attendance report, Brooklyn is currently dead last in attendance. They have also been in the bottom four in the past four seasons.

People in New York are a difficult bunch to please. Despite being a rebuilding squad, the Nets still have an exciting team of young studs to attract fans to watch their brand of basketball courtesy of coach Kenny Atkinson's offensive scheme. Perhaps this new interaction scheme can bring in more people to Barclays Center.
