If the Brooklyn Nets were to trade Kyrie Irving, Chris Broussard thinks they should go “big game hunting.” For one, if the Miami Heat want the veteran playmaker, the Nets should demand at least Jimmy Butler.

Broussard proposed the idea on the latest episode of First Things First, noting that the Nets should only talk and do a deal with, for example, the Heat if they are getting Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in return for Irving and Ben Simmons.

“If I'm the Nets and I'm going to sign-and-trade Kyrie, I'm going Big Game Hunting. Keep your picks and young players; I want present-day All-Stars to team with KD. Otherwise, don't call me!” Broussard wrote in a follow-up tweet.

Now that is all good and beneficial for the Nets, but it is impossible to think the Heat or any other team would accept such kind of trade proposal. Besides, it's not like Brooklyn has a lot of leverage at all since if they don't manage to keep Kyrie Irving, they also risk losing Kevin Durant in the process.

Furthermore, as Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported earlier, the Heat are smart about handling such situations. Put simply, why would they want to trade for Irving if they can make a chase for Durant once the whole Kyrie situation blows up.

The truth of the matter is the Nets cannot really ask for a lot if they trade Kyrie, let alone get a star in Jimmy Butler or Bam Adebayo. If Irving is ready to sit out a whole season for his COVID-19 vaccine stance, it's more than likely he can choose not to play in a situation he sees no future in.
