The Brooklyn Nets have signed swingman Justin Anderson ahead of the NBA restart, per ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

The signing comes after Nets forward Wilson Chandler elected not to participate in the restart, citing the “health and well-being” of his family.

Chandler had also been outspoken regarding issues of racial injustice in America, and he came to Kyrie Irving's defense when the All-Star guard faced backlash for raising questions about the restart.

The Nets were allowed to sign a replacement player to fill Chandler's spot on the roster, and Anderson will take his place.

Brooklyn actually signed Justin Anderson to a 10-day contract back in January. He made just three appearances and saw just under 16 minutes of total action during that stretch

Anderson has spent the majority of the 2019-20 season with the Nets' G League affiliate in Long Island. The former Virginia star averaged 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 31 games with the team.

The Nets find themselves in an interesting spot ahead of the restart. Brooklyn currently holds the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, just a half-game up on the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic.

Although the Nets are in a strong position to earn at least a spot in a potential play-in tournament, they would undoubtedly prefer to hang on to the seventh seed and avoid a first-round matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Anderson figures to give the Nets some depth at the forward spot. Though he hardly saw any run in his first stint with the team, Anderson can supply defense and toughness for Brooklyn as they hope to make a dark horse run in Orlando.
