Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer would love to see Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson win the 2019 Coach of the Year award.

Many believe Budenholzer should win the award since he's guided the Bucks to the best record in the NBA in his first year in Milwaukee.

However, the Bucks' coach believes the job Atkinson has done with the Nets warrants more consideration.

The Nets are on pace to make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2015. They are currently in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

Atkinson and Nets general manager Sean Marks have done a fantastic job of changing the culture in Brooklyn. This is a franchise which lost 60-plus games in 2016 and 2017.

Atkinson is the definition of a players-coach. His players love playing for him and he's never afraid of showing some emotion to get his guys fired up.

The job Atkinson has done with Nets point guard D'Angelo Russell has been stunning. Russell made his first All-Star team this season and has developed into one of the best young guards in the NBA. DLo obviously deserves majority of the credit for his improvement, but we can't ignore what Atkinson has done either.
