During his end-of-the-season press conference on Wednesday, Brooklyn Nets swingman Caris LeVert was asked to describe his relationship with Golden State Warriors superstar small forward Kevin Durant.

LeVert responded by saying Durant is “like a big brother” to him.

The only reason this quote is getting headlines is because Durant will become an unrestricted free agent this summer and the Nets have cap space to sign him. Many around the league believe if Durant signs with the Nets, Brooklyn would become contenders in the Eastern Conference.

The Nets lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round in five games. Brooklyn put up a good fight, but they were lacking a star player like Durant who can take the game over in the fourth quarter. It will be interesting to see if LeVert recruits Durant this summer.

LeVert averaged 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game during the regular season. He rebounded well from that horrific injury he suffered earlier in the season. The 24-year-old took his game to another level in the playoffs. He put up 21.0 points for the Nets while shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from the 3-point line.

The Nets have a really bright future. If Durant were to sign with Brooklyn, the Eastern Conference could be Brooklyn's to lose in 2019-20.
