Brooklyn Nets guard D'Angelo Russell is having a breakout 2018-19 campaign and will actually be playing in the All-Star Game as an injury replacement for Victor Oladipo this weekend.

However, Russell revealed something on Saturday that is likely to raise some hairs across the nation: he doesn't eat pizza.

Of course, pizza is one of the most popular foods in the United States, but I'm gonna be honest here: it's very overrated, so I don't think Russell is missing all that much by leaving the cheesy dish out of his diet.

As for Russell's production on the basketball court this season? He has played in 58 games and is averaging 20.3 points, 6.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 30.1 minutes per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the floor, 37.2 percent from three-point range and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line.

While his overall efficiency and defense still leave much to be desired, there is no question that this is the best season of Russell's career, and it comes at a perfect time, as the 23-year-old is still to enter restricted free agency this summer.

Russell, who played his collegiate basketball at Ohio State University, was originally selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft.

He played in 80 games during his rookie campaign, making 48 starts. During that time, he registered 13.2 points, 3.4 boards, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals across 28.2 minutes a night while making 41 percent of his field-goal attempts, 35.1 percent of his long-distance tries and 73.7 percent of his foul shots.

Russell then spent one more season with the Lakers before being traded to the Nets during the summer of 2017 after Los Angeles drafted Lonzo Ball.
