The Brooklyn Nets could finally get back their star point guard D'Angelo Russell on Friday against the Miami Heat, according to Alex Labidou of NBC Sports.

Russell has missed the last nine weeks of the season after he underwent left knee surgery, shortly after the team lost out on Jeremy Lin the very first game of the season.

The lefty third-year point guard was having one of his most effective offensive seasons before getting hurt and will look forward to salvage the rest of the season after looking good in scrimmages over the past week.

In his absence, the team had gone with a makeshift backcourt of Spencer Dinwiddie and Allen Crabbe in his absence, but Russell should slowly become the focal point of the offense once again, as he gets acclimated to the workload.

Expect head coach Kenny Atkinson to have some sort of minutes cap for the first few games, as most players are already in midseason form, and he'll want to minimize the wear and tear in his body while he goes through the gears.

The 21-year-old Ohio State product was averaging career-highs across the board with 20.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds through his first 12 games of the season before going on the shelf.

Russell was traded after two years with the Los Angeles Lakers, making room for their rookie Lonzo Ball, shipped alongside Timofey Mozgov for Brook Lopez, the Nets' all-time leading scorer.

The Nets (16-29) have lost six of their last seven games and could use a boost from their floor general on Friday, even in limited minutes.
