Kevin Durant is one of the biggest stars in the NBA. He is also one of the hardest people to market due to his off-the-court issues. However, the Brooklyn Nets already have a plan on their campaign to market their newest star.

According to Nets CEO David Levy, their approach will be pretty straightforward. They will be angling Durant as a wounded hero on his way back up to glory.

“Ultimately, I think there’s a good story around the comeback of Kevin Durant. ‘How does he rehab? What is he doing? How is he embracing himself in the community of Brooklyn?’ And I think Kevin is going to like that kind of thing,” Levy said, per New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy. “I think that’s a big story in itself. As the team hopefully wins on the floor, what’s it going to mean when he’s back in and how is that going to affect things here and there? So I think there’s a lot to use with Kevin.”

He currently has a rocky reputation among fans in the league. From the way he left the Oklahoma City Thunder to his opinions about never feeling like he belonged with the Golden State Warriors. His words have been incendiary that even Stephen Curry had spoken up about his criticisms.

However, both the Warriors and the Nets will admit that Durant is a supreme player. In his last season with the Dubs, he scored 26 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists on 52% shooting.

It will take at least another year before we see Durant on the hardwood once again. In the meantime, the Nets will do everything they can to erase the smears on his reputation.
