The Brooklyn Nets will look to even their playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, but they’ll have to do so without Ed Davis, as he has been ruled out for Game 4 of the first-round meeting between both teams:

Ed Davis will miss Game 4 with an ankle injury. Davis was initially forced out of Thursday’s Game 3 after playing just 10 minutes, and the ankle hasn’t healed enough for the big man to play.

Davis has been dealing with a sprained ankle since the start of the playoff series, and he played under 10 minutes in the Nets' Game 2 loss to the Sixers. Unfortunately for himself and the team, things haven’t progressed in the way they want, and only time will tell when he’s able to get himself ready to play in a game again.

For a Nets team that is already pretty thin in the frontcourt, this is a significant blow. With Davis gone, the only other center on the team is Jarrett Allen. While Allen is more than capable of handling himself on the court, the lack of depth is going to result in Brooklyn having to rely on smaller players to guard the likes of Joel Embiid and Boban Marjanovic … if Embiid plays.

Nets fans can expect someone like Rondae Hollis-Jefferson to get more minutes in Davis’ absence, which could prove tough for a Brooklyn team that already had trouble dealing with the interior offense Philly brings to the table.
