Even with the inconsistent playing time he’s had since entering the league, newly-acquired Brooklyn Nets big man Jahlil Okafor has shown that he can become a big time scorer and someone who can hold his own inside the paint when it comes to rebounding the ball, when given ample playing time. However, Okafor has continued to be criticized for how he plays defense, which many think is one of the weakest facets of his game.

When asked to give his take on the flak he’s been given, Jahlil Okafor made it known that he’s not too bothered by it. He also added, via Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders, that he understands there’s still a lot of things he has to improve on, but being young definitely works to his advantage, as he still has a lot of time to develop.

Now in his third season as a pro, Jahlil Okafor will have a fresh start after finally being traded to the Nets last week. He is now expected to play a bigger role in Brooklyn and could form a dynamic duo with D’Angelo Russell, once he returns from injury.

If the two can prove that they can co-exist on the floor, and compliment each other’s games, the Nets could emerge as one of the NBA's teams of future. With a good combination of veterans and young guns, the Nets' struggles may not last long, and the arrival of Okafor could mark the start of the turnaround for the franchise.
