It has been just over a month since the Brooklyn Nets acquired third-year big man Jahlil Okafor from the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, the 22-year-old has yet to make a positive impact in his brief time with his new team. In fact, Okafor has altered the Nets' pace of play and overall offensive production in his first five appearances, according to Jason Patt of FanRag.

Although it is a small sample size, it is clear that Okafor is struggling to find his footing with Brooklyn thus far. This may be a major reason why he has yet to receive any significant playing since being acquired in early December. He is averaging just 5.2 points on 37.5 percent shooting from the field with 3.2 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game in five appearances.

Okafor has been able to get on the floor in the Nets' last four games, but he has yet to play more than 17 minutes off the bench in any contest. It is quite evident that he is still feeling his way around offensively scoring two or fewer points three times including going scoreless on 0-of-3 shooting in 17 minutes played in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Detroit Pistons.

If anything, this has further underlined how disappointing his play has been over the last couple of seasons. He has been a liability defensively while showing little impact with his rebounding despite possessing a solid frame for a big man. It also hasn't helped that he has been an ineffective scorer in his limited time on the floor this season.

Much of that may be due to him struggling to get in a true rhythm because of the lack of consistent playing time, but at the same, it's not helping his case to earn a bigger role. Unless he can prove that he can pick up the pace while being an efficient scorer, this trend will likely remain the same for Okafor this rest of this season in Brooklyn.
