NBA fashion has long been a deep discussion among its most ardent fans. On Monday afternoon, Brooklyn Nets point guard James Harden and Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard added to that conversation.

Lillard opted to wear Harden's signature Vol. 5 in Sunday's 132-92 loss to Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, and his footwear choice prompted attention. The Trail Blazers' baller had his own thoughts on the matter, and Harden noticed, too:

NBA players wear each other's gear all the time, with perhaps no more famous such occasion than when Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Jordan slipped on a pair of Penny Hardaway Air Flight Ones, in an homage to the then-budding Orlando Magic phenom.

Similar to Nets guard James Harden, there are an ample amount of players who have their own shoes. In fact, he's not the only Nets superstar with a shoe line, he joins Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Some of the most popular ones are LeBron James Nike shoes, Stephen Curry's Under Armour shoreline, and Kawhi Leonard's New Balance brand.

One Twitter follower today managed to ask Lillard: “So you don't believe in the ‘rule' of not wearing the shoes of your competitors?”

And Lillard answered pretty emphatically:

Apparently, for Lillard, it's always “Dame Time,” no matter whose pair of sneakers the Trail Blazers All-Star has got on his feet.
