The Brooklyn Nets are riding a two-game win streak and are only a half game away from the eighth seed of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Spencer Dinwiddie has played a large role in the team's success since Caris LeVert's injury resulted in their best player missing a stretch of the season — a mantle Dinwiddie has willingly taken, according to teammate Jared Dudley.

“He's for sure number one for Sixth Man right now,” said Dudley. “He's got to keep it up… Spencer right now is our best player. It changes, it was Caris early in the year. He's willing us, he's scoring. It's a switch league, everyone is switching pick-and-roll to pick on the worst defender and have them blow by him and he has to make the play — and that was why he was blessed with that new contract. We haven't had a dinner yet on him, but there is a couple of games coming up.”

Spencer Dinwiddie might not be starting like D'Angelo Russell, but he's putting up quality numbers with 18.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

The 6-foot-6 guard has only started three of his 36 games this season, yet leads all (active) Nets players in scoring, shooting a formidable 47.1 percent from the field, 37.3 from deep, and 78.6 percent from the foul line.

The Colorado product is coming off a 37-point night in a win over the Charlotte Hornets, his second 30-point effort coming off the bench this month after trotting out 39 points in a win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Dinwiddie is surely up in the running for Sixth Man of the Year, as the Nets have climbed the ladder and won nine of their last 10 games to put themselves in the playoff picture.
