Brooklyn Nets big man Jarrett Allen suffered a mild injury to his right thumb and his status for the team's Summer League opener on Friday is up in the air, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

Allen has a wrap on his thumb.

This past season for the Nets, Jarrett Allen averaged 10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 59.0 percent from the field and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line. The big man recently said he's been working on expanding his range to the 3-point line.

Allen made only six 3-pointers this past season for the Nets, who agreed to free agent deals with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan, Garrett Temple and Wilson Chandler.

Summer League isn't that important for Allen, who has drawn comparisons to Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert. The Nets likely will play it cautious with Allen moving forward.

There's a lot of hype in Brooklyn for the upcoming season after Irving, Durant and Jordan agreed to deals with the Nets. Even though KD will likely miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his Achilles tear, the arrivals of Irving, Jordan, Temple and Chandler have the city excited. Keep in mind that Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Allen and Joe Harris are still in the fold.
