It goes without saying that anytime a player suffers a season-ending injury, their overall demeanor suffers along with it. Fortunately, Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin is looking on the bright side.

Lin sustained a ruptured patella tendon in the 2017-18 NBA season opener versus the Indiana Pacers. However, he said during an interview with ESPN's Zach Lowe that the recovery process allowed the medical staff to clean up any further injury he had been experiencing before:

“They say I’ll even be better because before, I was dealing with knee pain, but now that they’ve gone in and cleaned everything up, I’ll feel even better than before and there’s no residual anything,” he said in an apparent reference to the Nets medical staff.

Needless to say, Lin seems to be viewing his recovery as a ‘glass-half-full' process. This certainly should come as no surprise considering his optimistic approach to just about everything.

That said, he will need that sense of hope if he is going to come back strong next season. The Nets could certainly use all the help they could get considering they have been one of the worst teams in the league all year. However, Brooklyn's recent influx of talent in the backcourt raises further questions about Lin's prospects in the future.

The Nets invested a lot in point guard D'Angelo Russell while point guard Spencer Dinwiddie continues to be one of the most clutch players in the NBA. That said, Lin will need to be at full strength if he is to re-establish his role with the Nets moving forward.
