The injury bug continues to victimize players this early in the NBA season. Just a day after the Boston Celtics lost Gordon Hayward, another starter appeared to have suffered a devastating lower-body ailment, as Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin incurred what looked like a serious knee injury during a 140-131 loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Lin drove to the basket late in the game but landed awkwardly on his right foot, immediately crumpling to the floor afterward. Lin looked at his right knee before nearly bursting into tears due perhaps to the agonizing pain and the quick realization that it might sideline him for a long time.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Lin is scheduled for an evaluation on his right knee Thursday.

Jeremy Lin exited the contest after scoring 18 points and dishing out three assists.

If Lin would require time to recover, it’ll be a frustrating development for the Nets, who were relying on the backcourt tandem of Lin and D’Angelo Russell to shoulder most of the team’s workload.

Losing Lin would mean increased responsibilities for the Nets' backups such as Caris Levert and Isaiah Whitehead.
