Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Harris has accepted his invitation to the NBA’s 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend to defend his title, according to Michael Scotto of Bleacher Report.

All-Star weekend is in Chicago this season:

Harris, one of the best shooters in the NBA, has appeared in 47 games for the Nets this season. He's averaging 13.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 46.1 percent from the field, 40.5 percent from beyond the arc and 73.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Harris is making $7.6 million this season after signing a two-year, $16 million deal with the Nets back in the summer of 2018.

If you can shoot the ball and play defense in today’s NBA, you are going to get paid. Harris is one of the top young shooters in the league and has gotten better on the defensive side of the ball.

As a result, the Nets might have to overpay to keep Harris in Brooklyn since the sharpshooter figures to be pursued by a bevy of teams on the open market.

The Nets are 21-27 on the season. They are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. The franchise must be happy to hear that Harris will be representing the organization during All-Star weekend in The Windy City.

It's been a busy couple of months basketball-wise for Harris. He was on the FIBA World Cup team, a key figure for the Nets and now has to do the 3-point contest.

Some players like to get the time off from basketball and relax and spend time with their families. Harris, though, is young and eager to win his second straight 3-point contest trophy.
