Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Harris becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer and he could get paid handsomely.

According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, Harris could at least double his money as a free agent:

“The phrase ‘at least double his money’ has been thrown around by league insiders,” Lowe said on The Lowe Post. “[He] is good. He is a good, all-around player. He is tough. He plays defense.”

Harris is making $7,666,667 this season with the Nets. He signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Nets back in the summer of 2018.

In 28 games this season for Brooklyn, Harris is averaging 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists. He's shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 43.7 percent from beyond the arc and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Nets are 15-13 on the season. They are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings and still without superstar point guard Kyrie Irving, whose right shoulder is still injured.

If you can shoot the ball and play defense in today's NBA, you are going to get paid. Harris is one of the top shooters in the league and has gotten better on the defensive side of the ball.

As a result, the Nets might have to overpay to keep Harris in Brooklyn since the sharpshooter figures to be pursued by a bevy of teams on the open market.
