The Brooklyn Nets added some much needed wing depth on Monday when they announced the signing of Justin Anderson to a 10-day contract.

The 26-year-old, 6-foot-6 swingman came highly recommended by his former University of Virginia and Nets starter Joe Harris.

Anderson began the season with the Toronto Raptors' G-League affiliate Raptors 905. He'll once again gets a crack at an NBA rotation and prove himself with the Nets team that are still missing the services of their two superstars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

Anderson, who played with the Atlanta Hawks last season, talked about bringing in a “junkyard dog” edge to Brooklyn, per New York Post reporter Brian Lewis.

After four years in UVA, Anderson was drafted 21st overall by the Dallas Mavericks in 2015. His athleticism and defensive capabilities earned him a few minutes off the bench in his first two seasons. However, Dallas eventually shipped him to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017.

He stayed in the Eastern Conference in the next two years with the Sixers and the Hawks. Anderson was even part of the Washington Wizards in training camp this year and played in four preseason games — but was left unsigned.

He appeared 216 NBA regular season games and has career averages of 5.3 points and 2.6 rebounds. The veteran swingman has also converted on 41.9 percent from the field and 30.2 percent from 3-point territory.

The Nets, meanwhile, are shoring up their wings after waiving Iman Shumpert last month and losing (and waiving) David Nwaba to a season-ending Achilles injury. Brooklyn has lost its last five games and are currently seventh in the East with a 16-18 slate.
