The Brooklyn Nets are only 18-22 on the season, but head coach Kenny Atkinson has “great confidence” Brooklyn will turn things around.

The Nets are currently in the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. Things haven't been smooth for Brooklyn up to this point, but Atkinson loves the players in his locker room and is confident things are going to get better as the season moves along:

Star point guard Kyrie Irving has only played in 14 games this season because of a serious shoulder injury which kept him sidelined for 26 games. Irving is averaging 27.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists. The Nets are 1-2 since Irving returned to the lineup.

When two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant plays next season, the Nets will be legitimate title contenders. As far as this season goes, Brooklyn figures to be a lower seed playoff team with the potential to win a first round playoff series depending on who they face.

The Nets need to get out of that eighth spot, though, because they don't want to face the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round.

For the Nets to hang onto a playoff spot, Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Joe Harris and DeAndre Jordan all have to play at a high-level every night moving forward.
