Brooklyn Nets point guard D'Angelo Russell put forth further proof on Friday that he indeed has ice in is veins. The 22-year-old had another outstanding performance in a 111-106 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers, and Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson had nothing but wonderful things to say about his star point guard following the victory.

“He’s Joe Cool,” Atkinson said of Russell after the game, via Michael Scotto of The Athletic. “He’s just got a cool demeanor about him. Like I said before the game, confidence, cool, I don’t know what that is. I know I don’t have it. I’m a nervous guy. He’s just cool and doesn’t get fazed.”

Atkinson went on to point out that in his mind, Russell has an innate ability to step up in the crucial moments of ballgames, which makes him part of an elite few that are able to thrive under pressure.

“He’s one of those special guys,” Added Atkinson. “They really enjoy the moment. They don’t get flustered. I never see him get frustrated. He keeps his cool, keeps his composure and keeps his IQ. Some guys, things go wrong, and they go haywire. He keeps locked in. That’s a special thing he has.”

Russell put up 21 points (on 8-of-20 shooting), four three-pointers, two rebounds, 13 dimes, and three steals against his former squad, as he effectively eliminated the Lakers from playoff contention following this defeat.

Truly, it was a case of sweet revenge for L.A.'s former second overall pick.
