The NBA has slapped Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant with a $25,000 fine for throwing the ball into the stands against the Indiana Pacers on Friday, per Yahoo! Sports' Chris Haynes.

The league announces Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has been fined $25,000 for forcefully throwing the game ball into the spectator stands.

The incident happened within the four-minute mark of the third quarter when Durant got fouled by T.J. McConnell after making it past halfcourt.

Following the game, the Nets superstar owned up to his mistake, already expecting a fine coming from the league office, per Chris Milholen of Nets Daily.

“I tried to hit it off the backboard but I shouldn’t have done that. I don’t know what I was thinking. It won’t happen again. I hope so. I'm sure a hefty fine is coming.”

NBA crew chief Sean Wright even went as far as saying Kevin Durant should've been thrown out of the game for his action.

Durant had a quiet night for the Nets on the offensive end as he finished with 22 points, but he still contributed 11 rebounds and seven assists. James Harden led the way for Brooklyn, registering 29 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks.

The Nets may have won this affair, but they did it after playing catchup for almost the entire first half. The Pacers were without Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert on Friday night.

Brooklyn will play host to the visiting Detroit Pistons on Sunday.
