Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets might be getting vital defensive help. The Nets have recently signed a couple of key members to their roster that could potentially be huge for them in the long run, especially on defense.

The Nets' rather empty frontcourt gets a boost in 28-year-old Norvel Pelle. Pelle, a 6'10” forward who spent time around the G-League, played for 24 games last season with the Philadelphia 76ers. In 9.7 minutes per game, he was able to tally an impressive 1.3 blocks per outing.

“My career is based off of defense,” Pelle said to reporters (via The NY Post). “I’m a big rim-protector my whole life, so just coming in and filling a role.”

Pelle is definitely a welcome addition to the Nets' frontcourt who have been virtually vacant after the departure of Jarrett Allen. Now that he's cleared his quarantine, Pelle might even make his debut on Friday against the Toronto Raptors.

“If we need minutes out of [Pelle], we have no problem putting him in the game but that’s to be determined,” coach Steve Nash said.

Alongside Pelle, the Nets also recently re-signed veteran defender Iman Shumpert who's also expected to join the team as early as Friday.

Shumpert last played for the Nets in January 2020 before the season was shut down. He's poised to make a big impact and help the backcourt defense.

“I believe he is out of protocol tomorrow and he can join the group so I think he is completely available tomorrow if I am not mistaken,” Nash said on the former champion (via Nets Daily).

After the arrival of James Harden, Brooklyn immediately had one of the best scoring trios the league has ever seen. With a six-time All-Star like Kyrie Irving and a four-time scoring champ in Durant, the offense has been promoted from being great to incredible in no time. Now, the team has a chance to put in a complete unit with new additions to make a run for a 2021 title.
