There has been some speculation in the past several weeks, due to the suspended 2019-20 NBA season, which could potentially be lifted and resumed this summer, that injured Brooklyn Nets All-Star forward Kevin Durant may re-join the team.

Durant, 31, joined the Nets following three consecutive Finals appearances for the Golden State Warriors, signing-and-trading with Brooklyn, alongside star point guard Kyrie Irving, despite suffering an Achilles tendon rupture in Game 5 of the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

One of the key figures in Durant's inner circle, business partner Rich Kleiman, appeared on SiriusXM NBA Radio on Thursday all but denying an appearance from the two-time champion this season for the Nets.

“From my standpoint, no, I think it's unrealistic — that's just my view on it. We haven't gone deep in the conversation about it because of how unrealistic it seems to me. … If something changed, he'd tell me.

“It's also hard to even discuss in a real serious manner without any information on the season, [we] still feel so much uncertainty.”

Along with Durant, Irving also suffered a season-ending injury in Feb. 2020 with shoulder surgery later undergone, fueling more speculation that perhaps in a post-coronavirus outbreak world the Nets could see their two primetime stars finally on the hardwood playing together.

However, neither Irving nor Durant appear to be in any position, and given the fluidity of the suspended 2019-20 season, to be back playing—or even making their debuts for Brooklyn, too, rather.

The Nets, at the point of the season-in-hiatus, were 30-34, good for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
