Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks says Kevin Durant committed to the Nets via Instagram before he even spoke or met with the team.

Durant signed a four-year deal with the Nets. Brooklyn also got Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan. Durant, Irving and Jordan are really close friends:

All season long, the New York Knicks were reportedly the front-runners to land Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The two superstars apparently paid attention to what the Nets were building, though. Brooklyn made the playoffs in 2018-19, while the Knicks continue to be a walking disaster under owner James Dolan.

Durant and Irving didn't even meet with the Knicks. It was widely assumed KD and Kyrie were going to play on the same team. Irving grew up in New Jersey and was a Nets fan as a kid. Uncle Drew probably did a great job of convincing Durant to sign with Brooklyn instead of the Knicks.

Durant is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his right Achilles tear. The Nets will be title contenders in 2020-21 when KD makes his debut. The 10-time All-Star and 2014 MVP has career averages of 27.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 849 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors.
