Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant firmly believes several centers from the 90s would dominate in today's NBA and be in the MVP conversation, but among all them, three stands out the most.

On Twitter, Durant asked his followers “which centers from the 90s would be in the MVP conversation if they played in today's NBA.” Of course he had to make his pick as well, and he gave his votes to Patrick Ewing, Shaquille O'Neal and David Robinson.

While the Nets forward didn't offer an explanation, it's easy to see where he is coming from. After all, Ewing, Shaw and Robinson are three of the most dominant big men the NBA has ever seen. Shaq won his lone MVP in 2000, but if he was playing with the same dominance he had in his prime, it's easy to see him racking up several MVP awards in the modern game.

While guards and small-ball have dominated the modern NBA in the past decade, big men are making a return to the forefront. This 2021-22 season alone, the top candidates for the MVP awards (Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid) are both centers, and the last four MVPs were won by big men (two for Giannis Antetkounmpo in 2019 and 2020, and two for Jokic in 2021 and 22).

Of course there are a lot of other players who can make the list that the Nets forward didn't include. There is Hakeem Olajuwon as well who could be a dominant force in today's NBA, to which LeBron James agreed.
