The Brooklyn Nets squandered an opportunity to steal a win in Game 1 against the Boston Celtics. One of the main reasons they lost was Kevin Durant, their best player and the person who deserves the most credit for getting them into the NBA playoffs.

Durant scored 23 points on 9-24 shooting and recorded more turnovers (six) than rebounds (four) and assists (three). The Nets superstar simply couldn't hang with Jayson Tatum. Durant's poor defense on the Celtics star allowed him to slip free and convert the game-winning layup. Kyrie Irving having a stellar game and going for 39 points wasn't enough for the Nets to win.

Durant discussed his mishaps after the game, admitting he has to get back to playing at the level he usually does. Although he spoke out about his egregious amount of turnovers, he said that a game so close can't be pinpointed down to one thing. Brooklyn did allow 56 points in the paint and got outrebounded. The last play will always be replayed but the Nets certainly had the chance to win this one.

Durant has been a reliable postseason performer in the past for Brooklyn, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors. His dud of a performance against the Celtics was a rarity for his career. He has had bad playoff performances before and his Game 1 performance will rank up there with some of his worst.

The Nets and Durant will look to bounce back in Game 2 on Wednesday.
