The Brooklyn Nets could find themselves completely rebuilding this offseason with the latest information on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Durant is “monitoring the Brooklyn Nets' situation and considering options with his future” amid Irving's own questions about his future. This is according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, who broke the news Thursday afternoon:

This is huge news for the Nets, breaking just hours before the 2022 NBA Draft and a week before free agency.

Shams notes that this news allows Kyrie Irving to continue finding a new place of employment through a potential opt-in and trade. Irving has until June 29 to make a decision on his player option for next season, which is worth over $36 million. The star point guard and the Nets are negotiating an extension but are at odds over the length of the deal. If there's no deal, Kyrie could opt out and try to work out a sign-and-trade to a desired location or he could exercise his player option and then force a trade.

With all this new information, it's clearer than ever that the Nets could lose both stars this offseason if things go south.

The duo came to Brooklyn to win a championship together, and they were soon joined by James Harden. Of course, the Harden situation didn't work out, and he ended up forcing his way out through a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers. Now, it seems like his former co-stars could follow in his footsteps and find their way out of Brooklyn.

Rumors surrounding Durant and Irving have circulated the league the past few days. According to a recent report, the Nets are doing everything they can to ensure that Irving stays to avoid “alienating” Durant. If one of them goes, expect the other to be right behind.
