The Brooklyn Nets lost a crushing Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night to put an end to their season. However, Kevin Durant gave everything he had and played every single minute of the contest en route to another insane stat line.

A day after the loss, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Durant is expected to commit to Team USA over the summer at the Tokyo Olympics.

Is this a surprise? Well, it sure seems like it, considering Durant is a year removed from a major injury and just played grueling minutes in back-to-back series.

He was unstoppable and put up 49, 32, and 48 points across the final three games while playing 40 minutes or more–including the entire time in Games 5 and 7–in a gritty showing by Durant.

For Team USA this is fantastic news, and he joins players such as Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, Draymond Green, Bradley Beal and Jayson Tatum, with more commitments coming soon as the Olympics come closer and closer.

Either way, Team USA should be considered the favorites to take home the gold. If Durant plays anywhere near as well as he did vs the Bucks, there is simply no competition.

So, even though Durant fell short of his goal of an NBA title with the Nets, he is ready to aim for the gold in Tokyo this summer.
