Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant recently made his way back on the floor against his former team in the Golden State Warriors after 18 months of absence due to a ruptured Achilles tendon injury.

The 2014 NBA MVP didn't want to make a big fuss about his comeback and had his focus on producing night in and night out for the Nets squad that already garnered heightened expectations for the 2020-2021 season.

“I don’t have to show anybody anything,” Durant said via Yahoo Sports. “Whatever they gravitate to, they gravitate to. I don’t wanna prove myself but do whatever my coach wants me to do. Any given night I can showcase my full skill set.”

“I know it’s a lot of emotions. I got so many calls and texts,” the Nets star added. “I try not to make too big of a deal of this whole thing. I’ve been playing since I was 8 years old.”

Durant didn't need to play huge minutes for Brooklyn in his highly-anticipated return as the revamped Nets managed to impose their dominance all throughout the encounter. He didn't show any rust despite the long lay-off and recorded 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists through 24 minutes played for the team.

His running mate in Kyrie Irving displayed his elite playmaking with tallies of 26 points, four rebounds, and four assists in 25 minutes of action. The new era for the Nets franchise started off in the right direction with a 125-99 rout of the Warriors that played without Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

After a breakthrough win, the Nets will visit another tough opponent in the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day to snag their second victory of the season.
