As part of a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, rapper Fat Joe claimed that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving joined the Nets instead of the Knicks this offseason because they “didn't want that smoke” of all that pressure:

“Kyrie and Durant — they didn't want that New York Knicks pressure,” Fat Joe said in his interview with Sports Illustrated. “They didn't want that media attention. They didn't want Sports Illustrated being right in the back yard. They didn't want that, so they said, ‘Alright, we want New York, but let's do the lesser of the drama. Let's go to Brooklyn.'”

Durant, who's expected to miss all of this season as he recovers from an Achilles injury, actually saw this interview and decided to respond. Instead of firing off in anger, KD took a cool, calm and collected approach:

Hmm … are Durant and Fat Joe are working together in some sort of strange promotional scheme?

Durant signed a four-year deal with the Nets this summer after three seasons with the Golden State Warriors. It was a move that was met some some criticism, but he has continued to brush it all off. Ultimately, he's excited to be a member of the Nets:

“I'm excited about this group,” Durant said at the start of this season, via SNY. “Obviously with me not starting off the season and obviously being injured, you're going to see a lot of guys step up and do some things and go to another level as a player.”

Through their first 20 games of this season, the Nets have recorded a 10-10 record. They'll be back in action on Wednesday night, as they're scheduled to face the Atlanta Hawks on the road. Irving, who has been dealing with a right shoulder impingement as of late, is still out.
