Kevin Durant’s ruptured achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals was brutal to say the least. Durant, who was then with the Warriors, wasn’t sure what the future held for his career following the devastating injury. Golden State ultimately went on to lose to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals.

But one has to wonder what might have happened had Durant not gotten injured.

However, the Warriors did win Game 5, which was the same game Durant endured the injury. KD shared his thoughts on the Dub’s Game 5 victory after enduring the ailment

“I’m hurting deep in the soul right now I can’t lie but seeing my brothers get this win was like taking a shot of tequila, I get new life lol

Kevin Durant remained in good spirits on the outside at the time. But the superstar recently revealed his horrifying initial thoughts following the incident in a Netflix interview with David Letterman.

Durant believed he was looking at a career ending injury. Or at least the end of his ability to perform at an elite level.

Fortunately, he has bounced back and is posting MVP caliber numbers once again. He averaged 29.9 points, 6.4 assists, and 7.4 rebounds in 55 games for the Nets this season. His hard work and resilience helped him overcome the 2019 achilillies scare.
