Kevin Durant isn’t letting any type of distraction get in the way of his business of leading the Brooklyn Nets to as many wins as possible.

An ending to Kyrie Irving’s situation isn’t on the horizon. James Harden appears to be at an adjustment period due to the NBA’s recent rule changes. This leaves Durant with the heavy-lifting to start the season, and the one-time MVP has done nothing but deliver.

In spite of the Nets superstar’s impressive play and the team’s record, this is not a sustainable formula for Brooklyn, especially after Durant admitted to receiving treatment for his sore shoulder.

Via ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk:

“It’s solid,” Durant told reporters after the win when asked about the shoulder. “A little sore here and there, but I played, didn’t get in the way too much. Keep getting treatment and take it a day at a time.”

14 games into the 2021-22 regular season, Durant is averaging 29.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. He’s also shooting the ball in scorching fashion. The Nets forward holds a 58-42-84 shooting line, as of writing.

Kevin Durant is doing all these simply because he’s Kevin Durant. However, Irving and Harden were brought to Brooklyn for a reason. Thus far, the Nets have yet to witness these.

At some point, somebody else will have to step up for the Nets. On Sunday night, it was Patty Mills. The Australian point guard knocked down nine 3-pointers—a Nets record for a player coming off the bench.

Despite his seemingly-superhuman performance, Durant is still a mortal being.
