Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant talked about his new Big Three with James Harden and Kyrie Irving after their 128-124 win over the Miami Heat on Saturday night. Durant claimed the familiarity between the three of them will be a major component of their success and they will continue to work on it throughout the course of the season.

Via Alex Schiffer of The Athletic:

“The trust is already there,” Durant said after the Nets' victory. “The familiarity with each other is there already. We know each other’s games from the last decade. It’s just a matter of what plays we’re going to run at certain times, what lineups we’re going to have out there. I think both the coaches and the players are fine-tuning everything. We’re going to have spurts where we play inconsistent just because we try things, but for the most part, our minds and our hearts are in the right place when we’re out there. We try to take care of business every possession.”

Durant and Harden previously shared the floor dating back to their days with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2009 to 2012. Meanwhile, Harden and Irving also had a chance to don the same threads during their stint on Team USA, specifically during the 2014 FIBA World Cup when they bested Serbia for the gold medal. Two years later, Durant and Irving both suited up for Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Brazil, where they tormented Serbia in the gold-medal game once more.

On Saturday night, the newly formed Nets trio finally found success on the NBA floor when they faced a shorthanded Heat squad. Durant led with 31 points, while Irving added 28 points (18 in the fourth quarter), six rebounds, and seven assists. Harden also came out with 12 points and 11 assists of his own.

The Nets' struggling defense was a problem once again, with Bam Adebayo's 41 points keeping the Heat in the game. However, Brooklyn made enough big shots down the stretch to secure the win and move to 10-8 on the season.

The Nets' latest win will certainly serve as a confidence booster for the squad as they look to meet lofty expectations by the end of the season. Durant and Co. will look to beat the Heat again on Monday.
